Submissions

We’re excited to have relaunched rolling submissions for poetry excerpts on our Instagram feed! This is part of our commitment to writer development and showcasing emerging talent. It’s a digital showcase designed to build a supportive community of poets from around the globe.

Under our Nymphs & Thugs guise, we ran a similar project from 2016-2022. This attracted submissions from countries including Pakistan, Nigeria, the USA, Australia, India, Germany, and Palestine.

Here are our basic submission guidelines.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM us on Instagram or email us at livewirepoetry@gmail.com.

  • Please stick to no more than 16 lines per entry. This is partly for design and aesthetic purposes, but it also encourages excerpts rather than full poems. Featuring full poems would mean that they’re then ineligible for most publications and competitions.
  • The best way to submit is to paste the text into an Instagram DM. However, if you have specific formatting requirements, you can email a Word document to the email address listed above.
  • We’ll send you a preview of the image for approval before posting it.
  • We encourage poetry in all forms and styles and on any theme. However, please note that any content that we judge to be harmful or offensive will not be published.
  • Work that has been previously published elsewhere is fine, but please let us know if we need to credit any specific publication.
  • Please also send us a short bio to include in the post caption.
  • We’ll do our best to process submissions as quickly as possible, although the average wait time is usually 4-6 weeks and can occasionally be longer. Please don’t nudge us in the DMs as that’ll bump your submission to the back of the queue!
  • Once you’ve been published to our feed, please wait at least another 3 months before submitting again. We want to publish as wide a variety of voices as possible.
  • We’re not in a position to pay poets for publication of excerpts.
